Anticipation: Day 2, No Boundaries

Day 2

Day 2

” The Lord Himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). By the time this child is old enough to choose what is right and reject what is wrong, he will be eating yogurt and honey.” Isaiah 7:14-15

The very beginning of Christ’s life here on earth was radically different from the norm. “The virgin”, a term similar to our “maiden”, meaning both a young woman and a non-sexually involved woman, gets pregnant. This gal has a boy, and gives him a remarkable name: God. The baby is born and now God is with us. And regardless of whether or not Mary and Joseph were fantastic parents, Jesus was able to not only distinguish the difference between right and wrong but purposefully, consistently choose to do what is right…. by the time he started transitioning to solid food. By two years old (or even younger), Jesus is actively denying the temptation to sin and pursing righteousness; a mind-boggling concept.

Today, my mind’s chewing on the realization that God has no boundaries. He doesn’t need sex to make a baby. He doesn’t have to have the best parents to rear a child to be fruitful and Godly. As the Maker of this world and its systems, He has all authority and power to break the norm as He chooses. And He chose to do so…. to be with us!

About Jessi Journeyer

I'm a young woman who's been blessed with enough experiences to know that if you don't record what God is teaching and doing in you while it's happening, you're likely to forget His work and therefore miss some of the possible benefits. Initially started as my attempt to sort out the lessons God gave me in Bible School, this online-journal has grown into an ongoing chronicle of God's work and voice in my life, an attempt to sort-out the great soup of thoughts, questions and ponderings that are stirring in my heart and mind. For my benefit and, maybe, for yours.

  1. Wow Jess! I really enjoyed reading both of those! Thank you for sharing AND I love your DIY idea with the prophecies and the stars. BTW, I also enjoyed very much that you and your Mom had a good Thanksgiving together, that truly blessed my heart. I love you Jess and continue to pray for YOU every time The Lord lays you on my heart 😊. Have a great day!
